Week 57

Mom!! How are you?? This week was great Mom! The new area is awesome.  The ward members all seem pretty cool and down to earth and willing to help which is great! Elder Cooper goes home after this transfer so he's kinda gettin a little trunky but he'll be alright!  I'll work him so hard he won't have time or energy to be trunky haha! So we have some good things happening here right now! We have this one investigator named H who is dating a member and is getting baptized and married at the beginning of next month which we're super excited about! He is sooo willing to give up past habits and read and pray more and do the things necessary to come closer to Jesus Christ which makes me soooo happy! Other than that tho we've been building this area up a lot this week! It's been fun tho because we instantly started to find new people and have some cool things coming up from our efforts. I like coming to more dead areas actually. I take it as a challenge to see if I along with my companion and Heavenly Father can build it quick and effectively and we're already starting to see the area and the Zone improve which is great! I'm excited to be here overall tho!☺️☺️ Thank you for all your prayers this week! I could definitely feel them help me adjust! This was the easiest adjustment I've made so far on my mission which is awesome. I love this work sooooo much! It makes me so so so happy to see people become happier because of the Gospel. I know that that has been the source of all my joy. I'm so grateful to have been born in such a solid home and to be born under the covenant. So many families are without that at the moment. But not for long... Not for long Haha that makes me super happy that Tanner and Brandon did well and won this Week!! Congrats to Cole for giving his very first talk!! That's awesome!! I wish I could have been there! But next time hopefully. I can't believe Kyle is getting ready to leave! Tell him I said I love him and good luck! It'll be so amazing and he'll love it!! Thank you for everything! I am sooooo spoiled and I know that!  I love you and will talk to you soon.

Week 56

Mom!!

I am very sad that I am leaving this area. We have two baptisms coming up this weekend so I'm super bummed I'm gonna miss them Both of them I have worked with from the beginning so to not be able to see them all the way through is a downer. But it's ok! As long as they get baptized then I'm happy The relationships I have gained here will be life long and I'm excited to come back and visit everyone again. I feel like this is literally my home. This Ward is just so open and loving and willing to help!! It makes the work so much fun and more fulfilling! I'm going to miss Valera sooooo stinkin much!! She has definitely adopted me into the family and it's going to be so tough saying bye to her. I am excited to go make new and great relationships in a new Ward though! I love meeting new people and I'm excited to see the next area grow as this area did! Being able to serve here was such an amazing blessing!! I needed to come here for Me more then anything else! I needed these people more then they needed me. I just need to take what I learned here and apply it to my next area.

Overall this week went by super quick and went well! I'm also super sad that Elder Terry and I are splitting up. I've gained a really strong friendship with him and it will be tough leaving him. I know that I needed him as well. His Christ Like service and his really helped me this past transfer. I am excited to become friends with my next companion as well though. Everything is exciting/nervous for me haha I just need to get settled into my next area to let the nerves settle a bit!

So Sister Berry asked me to email her a story of my most spiritual experience relating to a recent convert so she can put it on the blog so I'll give you a little sneak peak of what I wrote.

Sister Berry,

One of the most spiritual experiences I've had with a recent convert was when I had to leave an area and say goodbye to everyone I had met. The whole transfer I was worried about my intent of why I was out serving and if I truly loved the people like Christ did or if I was just doing everything to make my family and friends back home happy/impressed. I tried so hard everyday to do everything for the right reasons and to gain a strong love for everyone I came across. Well, one of my recent converts had a brother who we would go over and teach multiple times a week and so I got very close to these two. As transfer news came that I was leaving I ended my Sunday night by going and seeing them and saying goodbye. I never thought I would get emotional while saying goodbye but I did. It felt almost as hard to say goodbye to them as it was to say goodbye to my family at the MTC. I had put a lot of heart and effort into helping the one be converted in the gospel and was trying just as hard with his brother to help him do the same. At this moment it felt as if the Holy Ghost was speaking to me and assuring me that I did truly love and care about them as both a friend, and as a disciple of Jesus Christ. This experience, although hard because I was leaving two great friends I had made, was definitely something I needed. I was worrying about my intent of serving a mission, and this helped me put most those worries to rest. I am so grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost. It has brought me so much peace and happiness even at the roughest of times. I am even more grateful for my Heavenly Father and the love he has for all of us and for his eternal plan of happiness that he has set before us. I know that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and that it's only through and by him that we can repent, be cleansed by the Holy Ghost, improve, and return to live with our Heavenly Father and families again. And I say this in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Week 55

MOM!!!

So this week overall was really good! We continue to get a lot of members out with us which always helps! H did get baptized on Saturday which was awesome!! That whole thing is just such a miracle. How we found her, how quick she progressed because she was taught before, it all worked out so perfectly! You could tell she was pretty nervous but after she received the Holy Ghost on Sunday she was super excited and you could tell she had received confirmation from the Holy Ghost that she had made the right decision. I was able to go on some exchanges with two brand new Elders this week and it was really fun. It was fun to think back to when I was brand new and the emotions and nerves that we're going through my head at that time. I was able to lend some good advice I think that hopefully will help them. We also had a cool miracle with one of our members just last night. He called us and asked if we would come with him to give his father-in-law who isn't a member a blessing because he's going into Chemo tomorrow. We were able to bare strong testimony of the power of the priesthood and how it has been restored upon the earth today through the Prophet Joseph Smith and how this message can truly bless him! He agreed to let the missionaries in his area come back and teach him more which was awesome! He was a super humble guy and was really open to it all so I'm sure he'll progress well!

So how are all the kids sports going?? I miss going to their games! I really did love being around the family. I miss going to Gunlock and just being with you guys. Ya I did like being away to but I do miss being with all you guys.

I hope you guys have a great week!! Thank you for all you do! It was interesting because I was sitting in bed thinking about all the miracles I have seen in this area and I came to the conclusion that it's the members who fulfill their callings and do their home teaching that receive missionary opportunities. We need to fulfill our callings and do our home and visiting teaching 100% of the time! Excuses are of the devil! How are we gonna be trusted to watch over our own worlds and spirit children if we can't even keep in touch and care for 2-3 families that live within 10 miles of us? I'm excited to receive a calling when I come home and do my calling that I receive to the fullest! I love love love reading my scriptures and reading about the great examples that the prophets of old have set for us! I was reading about Samuel the Lamanite and he was one of the most faithful servants God has ever had. It made me want to become better.
I love you soooo much!! Have a great week and know that I love you!!

Week 54

Hey Mom!! I miss youuuuu️ How was your week?? How's the triplets football goin and stuff??

So this week was overall pretty fantastic! We got a lot of members to come out with us and help teach this past week which was awesome! J and S were baptized on Wednesday night and a lot of people showed up which was awesome! There was a lot of support and love and you could tell they could feel that the Ward was super excited for them! They bore their testimonies at the end and J ended his by saying "And I'm proud to call myself a Mormon!" And man was it soooo powerful when he said that! It made me so happy just to think that I was able to see these two young men follow Christ's example. I met them the first week I got here and to be able to have the opportunity to work with them has helped me more then it's probably helped them! They are both such studs and I'm excited to fly back down here when they leave on their Missions! We also had another sweet miracle happen this week!! So at the beginning of the week I said to Sister Senden "Hey, who are you going to find for us to convert next?" She said "I'm gonna think today and get back to you soon on that" Well the next day she called us and told us that her other Nephew had a girlfriend who was taught in Indiana and super super close to being baptized but wanted her nephew to be the one to baptize her. Well he couldn't fly up there cuz he was working full time in Texas so she just decided to wait till he could do it. Well they both moved back here to St Cloud and we met with her in Friday and she's getting baptized this Saturday!! Haha it was such an awesome miracle!! #Valera4President She works wonders here!! Another cool miracle that happened was we committed one of our other investigators to live the Word of Wisdom and he accepted it right away! His wife is a member and so they're both coming to church and he's gonna get baptized on the 29th!! We're going to High Five Yogurt after to celebrate too so if you wanna come support him plzz do Lol overall things are going really really well here!

I miss you bunches!! Thank you for everything!!

I hope you guys have a killer day!! I'm so grateful to be a part of this family. I am so blessed to be able and have such supportive parents! I love you to the moon and back mom!
Love your son, Elder Ashworth
